IISS Shangri-La Dialogue Sherpa Meeting 2022
Congress Rental supports the IISS Shangri-La Dialogue Sherpa Meeting
From the 24th to the 25th of January 2022, the 10th IISS Shangri-La Sherpa Meeting took place. This marked the relaunch of the IISS Shangri-La Dialogue, an important process for defence diplomacy. After a two year hiatus, senior officials, military officers, academics and other policymakers from over 20 participating nations and international institutions converged in person at the Fullerton Hotel.
This event provides a platform for honest, secure and off the record discussions on key issues that shape the defence and security landscape of the Asia-Pacific region. Together the delegates considered evolving security challenges, emerging technologies and other common interests.
"The IISS believes face-to-face diplomacy can solve global problems. At a time of ever-greater interest in Asian security, we look forward to welcoming delegates to Singapore this January, and again in June for the 19th IISS Shangri-La Dialogue"
- James Crabtree, Executive Director, IISS-Asia
The layout of the Meeting was in a rectangular formation facing inwards with three automatic PTZ cameras, pre-programmed by Congress Rental's technicians to move and focus on the delegates as soon as they pushed the microphone button to speak. This visual was then broadcasted to screens in the centre of the room and to the virtual platform for online delegates.
A Congress Rental technical engineer ensured camera placement and microphone positioning matched the given layout while making adjustments to capture everyones image properly and achieve the best result. The interpreter booth was used to deliver simultaneous interpretation of Korean and Vietnamese.
Before the event we prepared by creating seating pre-sets using software mapping technology on the microphone management system and working with an audio engineer to ensure all microphones received technical checks. During the event, we supported the floor by monitoring and controlling the microphone management system. In addition to this, we optimised iris control and monitored the colour temperature of the automatic PTZ cameras to ensure that the image quality remained perfect throughout.
